Talk on Latino Identity

I always have been mistified with how the people of Latinoamerica in the USA are homogenized under the concept of "Latino" or "Hispanic" which it seems is reaching the level of "race" as this talk seems to imply. Anyway it will be interesting to see what a diversity consultant (what is this?) has to say about this.
I would also like to know your thoughs on the topic, Do you think Latinoamericans have a common identity? What is it, Which are the common elements to all Latinamerica and the spanish Caribbean?

Talk:"Cosmic Race, Rainbow People and other Myths: An Exploration of Latinas/os Racial Identity,"
When: Wednesday, September 27, 2006 7:00 PM-9:00 PM
Where:
Higgins University Center Tilton Hall
Jorge Zeballos is an experienced diversity consultant who has developed a unique and innovative workshop/presentation that explores the racial identity of Latinas and Latinos in the United States. As the Latino population has become the largest population of color in the country, there is increased scrutiny into how they define themselves racially. How do they see themselves? As white? As indigenous? As black? As mixed? These questions are explored in this workshop, "Cosmic Race, Rainbow People and other Myths: An Exploration of Latinas/os Racial Identity," by examining the historical and contemporary forces that shape that identity.
